Interactive session in Glasgow will help sponsors and CROs navigate EU Clinical Trials Regulation disclosure requirements and make defensible anonymisation decisions
GLASGOW, United Kingdom (October 22, 2026) – TrialAssure, a leading technology provider advancing clinical trial transparency, disclosure, and data sharing, announced today that Zach Weingarden (Director of AI Technology and Applications) and James Greene (Executive Leader, Growth & Partnerships) will lead an interactive, hands-on workshop at PHUSE EU Connect 2026 in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The workshop, titled “Redact, Protect, Disclose: A Practical Workshop on Clinical Document Anonymisation under EU CTR,” will take place on Monday, November 16, from 16:00 to 17:30 GMT in Room M2-4.
With EU Clinical Trials Regulation (EU CTR) No 536/2014 fully implemented and the transition from the previous Clinical Trials Directive complete, sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) face increasingly complex decisions about protecting sensitive information in documents intended for publication through the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS).
The challenge requires balancing patient privacy, commercially confidential information (CCI) and the public’s need for meaningful clinical trial information. Excessive redaction can diminish the value of published documents, and insufficient anonymisation can expose sensitive information.
“Clinical document anonymisation requires judgment, particularly when teams must balance transparency with the protection of sensitive information,” said Greene. “We designed this workshop to give participants an opportunity to work through realistic scenarios, compare their decisions with other professionals and develop approaches they can apply within their own organizations.”
What participants will gain from attending
The 90-minute workshop will place participants into small groups to evaluate realistic clinical document scenarios, including protocol excerpts, clinical study reports (CSRs) and patient narratives. Participants will be challenged to:
- Identify personal data and CCI requiring protection.
- Apply relevant regulatory guidance to practical anonymisation decisions.
- Evaluate the consequences of over-redaction and under-redaction.
- Compare interpretations and defend their decisions through group discussion.
- Develop practical decision-making frameworks for future disclosure activities.
The session will draw on TrialAssure’s experience supporting clinical document anonymisation across pharmaceutical and CRO programs. The company’s ANONYMIZE® technology supports risk-based anonymisation and redaction across clinical documents, datasets and images, helping organizations balance privacy protection with the utility of disclosed information.
“Regulatory guidance provides an essential foundation, but applying it consistently to real clinical data and documents is where teams encounter the greatest challenges,” said Weingarden. “Our goal is for attendees to leave with greater confidence in the decisions that they make and a practical understanding of how to approach challenging public disclosure scenarios.”
PHUSE EU Connect brings together professionals working across clinical data science, statistical programming and related disciplines to exchange knowledge and advance industry practices.
